INTERIOR DESIGN FOR EVERYONE
Great design can be achieved within any reasonable budget!
I have been an interior designer for the last 25 years and have had many and diverse projects. I would like to say a few words about design and the process of creating a beautiful and wonderful space.The journey isn’t always easy, but it is a lot of fun. The creative process is a pleasurable and gratifying endeavor…with a lot of curves, bends and nasty snags that will inevitable rear their ugly, annoying heads. Don’t be discouraged…it’s all part of the process.
Organize the layout.
If you can do it on paper that is great…but if not play around with a good
tape measure until you know where things should be. Know the sizes of furniture you need and write them down in a notebook…no scrapes of paper.
TIP: The space should be well organized and feel comfortable and organic with good traffic flow. Think carefully about storage. It is one of your best ways to achieve a great
pulled together look.
Allow yourself to fantasize about mood you want to create.
TIP: Be aware of the colors and places that give you pleasure. Again write them in the notebook. Keep collecting ideas until a theme develops.
Shop around see what is available…but don’t buy right away.
Go to the big stores like Crate & Barrel, the antique stores and flea markets. Look and see what appeals to you. Then take some time to allow the ideas to form and germinate…don’t rush into anything until you have a clear idea of where you are going.
